Musical Beginnings to Week Two Of Cinderella
Darlings, gather ’round – it’s time for a little magic update from your Fairy Godmother ✨

Week Two of our Cinderella journey has officially begun, and oh, what joyful sounds have filled Off Broadway so far! Our entire cast came together for a full cast music rehearsal – and let me just say, it was positively enchanting.
Take a peek behind the curtain at how Stepsister’s Lament and A Lovely Night are shaping up :
Stepsister's Lament
With our music director David East at the piano, the theatre was filled with laughter, learning, and those early glimmers of musical magic that promise an enchanting production to come. In the below rendition of Stepsister’s Lament, every voice added its own shimmer to the spell we’re weaving.
The Stepsisters (and their chorus of co-conspirators) brought fire and flair to this sharp, snappy ensemble number. Watching the cast lean into the humor, the jealousy, and the over-the-top drama was an absolute delight.
It’s a number full of playful shade and perfectly pointed elbows, and I daresay that Charlotte (Julie Grisham) is thriving in her moment.
A Lovely Night
From the first lilting note of A Lovely Night, the mood shifted into something truly magical. The music carried a dreamy wistfulness, and our Cinderella (Satrina Massey) floated through the melody with grace and longing, as if the memory of the ball were still shimmering in the air.
Her step-family, in a moment unlike their usual behaviors, wrapped around her like a warm breeze, echoing the romance of a night that might never come again. But, my dears, you could feel the hope – and the heart – in every single voice.
Until Next Time
As a Fairy Godmother, I must say: this rehearsal has reminded me that the true magic of theatre lies not just in the glitter or the gowns, but in the feelings that live in every note. And with each rehearsal, our cast is weaving those feelings into a tapestry that’s going to dazzle on opening night. As characters are beginning to come alive, the story is slowly unfolding before my eyes – and trust me, it’s positively spellbinding to behold.
Tonight, the gentlemen of the cast step into the spotlight for a focused evening of blocking. Stay tuned, dear friends. There’s so much more to come: twirling gowns, lost slippers, and transformations galore.
Keep following along, and don’t forget to tell a friend – the magic is only just beginning.
With fairy dust and affection,
